Homemade Chicken Goujons

Homemade chicken goujons!! Who likes the thought of that but is scared to make them as they are too time consuming and difficult to make? Well not anymore! I have created homemade chicken goujons that can be made in a matter of minutes and taste divine!! Quick, easy and so tasty that the whole family will love them.

One of the reasons why most people go for convenience foods is that they believe that cooking from scratch is expensive and complicated. I am here to prove to you otherwise. Since we started eating more healthily, my shopping bill has dropped dramatically and it has stayed low. We have less wastage and we no longer crave the “junk” food that we used to eat.

I am all about showing people how they can create healthy and nutritious meals, even if they are on a budget, that the whole family will enjoy. By doing this you know exactly what is in the food that you are eating and you are in control of what your body is being fuelled by. This is so important for long term health, weight management and in the health of our growing children.

How long do you think it will take to make Homemade Chicken Goujons?

1o minutes, 15 minutes, 20 minutes or more? I would say that once you get into the swing of making these you can have them made in 5 minutes. The first time you make them it might take you 10 minutes but I would say that is a maximum. The recipe is so simple for you to make that it will quickly become a family favourite at meal times.

Homemade Chicken Goujons Recipe

  • 500g Chicken Fillets or Mini Fillets
  • 150g of Blitzed Porridge Oats
  • 4g Paprika
  • 3g Chilli Flakes
  • 2g Salt
  • 2g Black Pepper
  • 2g Cayenne Pepper
  • 50ml Franks Hot Sauce

Equipment

  • Chopping board
  • Sharp Knife
  • Weighing Scales
  • Glass Bowl
  • Tongs
  • Plastic Bag
  • Baking Tray

 Method

  • Turn oven on to 180C/350 Fahrenheit
  • With a sharp knife cut the chicken fillet into 3 or 4 thin strips and place into the glass bowl.
  • Once you have all the chicken cut and in the bowl add the Franks’ Hot Sauce and stir it all in. Leave to marinate for 2 hours in the fridge. If you need to prepare these in advance they can marinate over night in the fridge too. The flavours will be more intensified the longer you leave the chicken in the marinade.
  • Weigh out the dry ingredients and place them in a plastic food bag. Mix them all together.
  • Using a pair of tongs take half of the marinated chicken and put it in the plastic bag. Shake the bag about and cover the chicken.
  • Using the tongs, take the coated chicken out and place on a baking tray.
  • Repeat the process.
  • Put into the oven for 20 minutes.
  • Whilst they are cooking, prepare a healthy salad to go along with the homemade chicken goujons.
